What is clinical research?
Clinical trials, also called research studies, are sponsored by pharmaceutical companies. These clinical trials or research studies explore whether a medical strategy, treatment, or device is safe and effective for humans. The study of new and existing medications, as well as the collection of data during the conduct of a study, may improve the treatment of dermatological diseases related to effectiveness and can improve patient safety.
Clinical Research is one of the final stages of a long and careful research process. When a new medication has passed initial animal and human trials, it is necessary to conduct clinical research with patients to gather information about the safety and effectiveness of that medication and any potential side effects it may produce before it is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Trials are overseen by the FDA to ensure safe, appropriate conduct of the trials.
