Fillers
Fillers are products used on the face to reduce signs of aging, add fullness, and improve wrinkles. There are different filler options based on the area you want to treat, like the cheeks, marionette lines, or lips. Most fillers contain hyaluronic acid.
This substance is naturally found in the body and helps with plumping. Hyaluronic acid comes in different sizes. The size affects how much fullness or plumping you get. Smaller molecules work best for lips and fine wrinkles, while larger molecules are better for deeper wrinkles.
Administration
Fillers are a relatively safe product that are administered in an office setting as a nonsurgical (noninvasive) facial rejuvenation treatment. Prior to treatment, the areas are anesthetized with a topical anesthetic to help reduce the pain associated with the needle sticks. The results are instantaneous from the filler. Potential risks associated with the injections include bruising, bleeding, and swelling. Serious risks are uncommon. It is recommended to avoid drinking alcohol or taking NSAIDs prior to treatment as this can increase the risk for bruising and bleeding.
